PhD researcher Ciska Gielis receives Best Presentation Award at the 11th International Symposium on Fiber Reinforced Concrete (BEFIB 2024)

Published on October 9, 2024 Updated on October 9, 2024

At the 11th International Symposium on Fiber Reinforced Concrete (BEFIB 2024) organized in Dresden (Germany) last September, PhD researcher Ciska Gielis was awarded the Best Presentation Award for her outstanding presentation on the integration of polypropylene (PP) microfibers in 3D Textile Reinforced Cements (3D TRCs).

PhD researcher Ciska Gielis, who is conducting her research jointly at ULB-BATir-LGC and VUB-MEMC under the supervision of Prof. Didier Snoeck (ULB) and Prof. Tine Tysmans (VUB), had the opportunity to present her research at the 11th International Symposium on Fiber Reinforced Concrete (BEFIB 2024) organized in Dresden (Germany) last September. At this key conference on Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC), Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) and Strain-Hardening Cementitious Composites (SHCC), Ciska presented promising results achieved within her PhD research on the integration of short synthetic microfibres in 3D Textile Reinforced Cements (3D TRCs) and their influence on the material’s mechanical response, cracking behaviour and autogenous healing efficiency. Her presentation was very well received, leading to her being awarded the Best Presentation Award of BEFIB 2024.
