Published on May 19, 2026 Updated on May 19, 2026

Mid-Career Award Recipient: Didier Snoeck

Professor Didier Snoeck is an internationally recognized leader in sustainable structural design and advanced cementitious materials. As Associate Professor at ULB, he has built a distinguished research program focused on durability, sustainability, and self-healing concrete. His pioneering work on superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) has fundamentally advanced the understanding of crack mitigation, internal curing, and autonomous healing in cement-based systems, helping to extend the service life of infrastructure while reducing environmental impact. Beyond his research, he is an active leader, mentor, and ambassador for sustainable construction, helping shape the next generation of engineers and advancing self-healing materials from laboratory innovation to real-world application.

He will deliver a keynote lecture at ICSHM2026, offering unique insights into the future of self-healing materials and resilient infrastructure.
