GeoMechanics Laboratory, in collaboration with G-Time department, both at ULB, were involved in the installation of temperature and strain fiber-optics along a series of borehole heat exchangers drilled at USquare. The equipment will provide insightful information on the response of the subsurface during the extraction and injection of heat from/into the ground.
The 132 borehole heat exchangers field currently drilled at USquare will supply a heating network developed at the scale of the 3.95 hectare site. The Urban Development Corporation (Société d’Aménagement Urbain) has been appointed by the Brussels-Capital Region to coordinate the various operations on the site and is thus the contracting authority who has allowed this enriching collaboration.
