Publication of the book "L’Université libre de Bruxelles au Solbosch"
Bernard Espion and Michel Provost have contributed to the preparation and the writing of the book “L’Université libre de Bruxelles au Solbosch”
Bernard Espion, Emeritus Professor at BATir department, and Michel Provost, former lecturer at BATir department, have contributed to the preparation and the writing of the book “L’Université libre de Bruxelles au Solbosch”, that focuses on the architectural and structural aspects of the buildings constructed on the Solbosch campus and that was published to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Solbosch campus.
"Un siècle d'histoire architecturale" (A century of architectural history) is the promising subtitle of this new book, edited by Serge Jaumain, Anne-Sophie Daout and Irène Lund (ULB), with the collaboration of Arthur Schweisthal and Aurélie Bourse. The aim is to investigate, with the help of sometimes unpublished archive documents, one hundred years of the University's history through the evolution of its buildings. Based on studies carried out by students, professors and members of the ULB administration, the book offers an architectural stroll revealing the history of each of the buildings that contribute to shaping the particular identity of the campus. Architects, engineers and historians have combined their expertise to offer a new approach to the history of the Solbosch and, more broadly, that of the University.
