BATir contributes to the Curio’s Lab of the “Université des enfants”

A team of researchers from the BATir department welcomed children aged 6 to 9 at the USquare site as part of the ULB’s “Université des enfants” initiative.

The programme offered an immersive and hands-on introduction to sustainable construction materials through the question “How can we build houses, towers, and bridges using materials that are more environmentally friendly and more durable?”.
Through experiments and direct manipulation of materials, the young participants created eco-friendly concrete, discovered the principles of earth-based construction, and explored methods for optimising material use in contemporary architecture.
